Interior fit-out
Floors, walls, ceilings and joinery — the finish inside.
We have built interiors for homes and shops in Tokyo since 1998. In Malaysia we do the same work, training local craftspeople as we go.

About us
Morimoto Construction was founded in Tokyo in 1998. Our work includes a Japanese restaurant at the Imperial Hotel, and offices and homes across the city.
Interior work is not finished by placing materials to a drawing. A flat substrate, a clean trim junction, a door that closes true — the last few millimetres are done by hand.
In Malaysia we do not fly craftspeople in. We work alongside local tradespeople and train them, using methods suited to local materials and climate, to the standard taken for granted on Japanese sites. It takes longer. We think it is the form that lasts.
How we work
We are on site with Malaysian craftspeople, not instead of them.
Not "watch and learn" — the sequence and the checks are written down and shared.
We walk the finish together and put right what needs putting right before handover.
What we do
Floors, walls, ceilings and joinery — the finish inside.
Home renovation, including work that changes the layout.
Retail and restaurant interiors. Phased work while trading is possible — ask us.
Projects
Projects completed in Japan. Malaysian projects will be added here as the photographs come in.
A Japanese restaurant balancing tradition and invention. Featured in Shotenkenchiku, September 2022.
A wine salon with sixty wines in the cellar and six by the glass, changed daily.
Places thought to need rebuilding often need only the finish and the substrate put right. Show us first.
How it goes
You do not need drawings, and you do not need the right word for the work. Start from what you want.
Tell us what you want. Drawings are welcome but not required.
We look at the site. Substrate and services cannot be judged until they are opened up.
Scope and price, in writing.
We keep you told of the programme, and check the finish with you.
